Um verkin
Þrívíð verk úr stálplötum eru unnin þannig að ein plata liggur þétt upp að vegg og hinar tvær eru soðnar á og skaga fram. Saman mynda þær kassa í fjarvídd sem ýmist má sjá sem úthverft eða innhverft form. Í sumum tifellum er síðan innhverfa formið endurgert úthverft og sett við hlið innhverfa formsins.
Í sumum tilfellum er ljósmynd af flötunum tveim sem skaga fram stækkuð í raunstærð 1:1 og límd á flötinn sem er þétt við vegginn, við hliðina á gati í þeirri plötu. Ljósmyndin sýnir þá innra byrði kassa með gati
Þar sem ljósmyndir eru notaðar eru þær alltaf í raunstærð 1:1. Þær eru skyggðar í myndatökunni og skapa þá þrívíð form sem standa ein eða talast á við stál formin. Þær eru hengdar yfir þann hluta veggjanna sem þær sýna.
Teikningar af kössum með gati eru gerðar úr 15mm stál prófílum. Þar sem teikningin gerir ráð fyrir að sjáist í gegnum kassann er römmuð inn ljósmynd af þeim hluta veggjarins sem er undir ljósmyndinni.
About the work
These three-dimensional works are made from steel plates. One plate, is hung flat up against the wall whilst the other two plates, which are welded to the first plate, protrude out from the wall at different angles. Together the three plates create a form in the shape of a box which can be seen negatively or positively. In some cases the illusion created in one form is made literally and placed next to the original pieces
In some works the wall plate has an oblong opening in it. The two protruding plates have been photographed, printed 1:1 (life-size), turned upside-down and stuck on the wall plate next to the opening creating the illusion of the inside surfaces of a box with an opening in it.
Where photographs of wall-papered walls or brick walls are used in these works they are always printed life-size. In the process of photographing sections of the walls, different areas are shadowed giving the illusion of a three-dimensional shape. These photographs are then hung on the wall, covering exactly the part of the wall that they show.
Outlines suggesting boxes with a central opening through them are made using 15mm steel bars. Within the opening a photograph of the wall behind is framed, replacing the actual wall.
